  3. Columbus Reads—Janesville: An American Story by Amy Goldstein

    December 13, 2018, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Library Annex

What comes after Columbus’s own Broadway performance of Sweat? Janesville, a similar story to Sweat, a little closer to home. With a panel of locals, we’ll bring it back home and discuss the state of economic development and planning here in Columbus. “Perhaps the most powerful aspect of Janesville is its simple chronological structure, which allows Goldstein to show the chain reaction that something so calamitous as a plant closing can effect. Each falling domino becomes a headstone, signifying the death of the next thing.” (NY Times) Join in the conversation as Columbus Reads Janesville to learn about the past as we plan for our own future. Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book. Unable to make Thursday? Try checking out Afternoon Book Club on Monday, December 10 from 1-2pm at the Senior Center. They will be discussing Janesville as well.
