Too often, unused and expired medications find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. Bringing unused and expired medications to a Drug Take Back Day collection site protects you, your family, and your community. Wisconsinites safely disposed of 59,840 pounds of medications on the last Drug Take Back Day, which was held April 30, 2022. The total amount of medications collected in Wisconsin was the most in the nation. 

Drug Take Back Day is October 29, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Prairie Ridge Health, located at 1515 Park Ave. Columbus, WI. Those with expired or unused prescriptions may drop them off at Prairie Ridge Health's main entrance in this drive-thru event. 

Dropping off unused and expired medications is fast and easy. Option 1 involves removing the prescription label or taking a marker to black out personal information on the label. Option 2 involves placing loose pills in a zip-top bag and keeping liquids in their original containers. After that, just stop by a collection site and drop your items into a bin. That's it. No questions are asked. Participants can be in and out of a collection site in minutes.
