Columbus Emergency Management will be keeping the Community Center, located at 161 N. Dickason Boulevard, open as a shelter during today's potentially severe storm. According to the National Weather Service, there will be an increased chance of severe thunderstorms in our area with potential for damaging winds and large hail as the primary concern. There is also a potential tornado threat from 1pm - 7pm.
During the heat wave, the shelter will be open, but residents are encouraged to visit the Columbus Public Library if in need of a temporary cooling shelter.
