[ARCHIVED] S. Main St. Area Parking Restrictions Lifted

By order of the city of Columbus Police Chief a Temporary Parking Order has been lifted for the following streets:

  • S. Main Street from W. School Street to Washington Street on the west side of the street.
  • W. Fountain Street from S. Birdsey Street to S. Main Street on the north side of the street.
  • Richmond Street from S. Main Street to Dickason Blvd. on the north side of the street.
  • W. School Street from S. Main Street to S. Spring Street on the south side of the street.

In an effort to control condensed parking in this area this No Parking order restricted parking to one side of the street and took place from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday, excluding Christmas Eve. Condensed temporary parking has developed several traffic and pedestrian safety concerns.

For these reasons, this “No Parking” order was enforced by the Columbus Police Department. These parking restrictions were posted Monday, December 13, 2021, and became effective and enforced Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 8:00 am and remained in effect until the Columbus Police Chief lifted the order.   Police Chief Weiner has lifted the "No Parking" order citing reduced traffic concerns coinciding with the school year ending.
