The City of Columbus would like to remind residents of Ordinances 86-226 and 86-227 regarding snow and ice removal. Sidewalks abutting your property line are to be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours of the end of snow fall. Depositing snow into the street or onto another person's property is prohibited.
Should the Department of Public Works receive a complaint of a sidewalk not being cleared of snow and/or ice, DPW staff will tag the owner's door with a reminder of the ordinance. If it is not cleared within 24 hours of being tagged, DPW staff will go out and clear the sidewalk of snow and/or ice, and the property owner will be billed for the service at a rate of $111.57 dispatch fee and $1.00 per linear foot. Property owners may also be issued a citation. To report an issue, please contact the Department of Public Works at 920-623-5908.
If you would like to report a property owner depositing snow into the street or onto another person's property, please contact the Police Department at 920-623-5919.
We greatly appreciate your help in keeping the City of Columbus safe for all!
