The picture on the left demonstrates incorrect placement of garbage cans in winter, especially immediately after a snow event. Plow trucks will likely be unable to stop for these garbage cans, and they'll be damaged. The picture on the right demonstrates correct placement of garbage cans in winter. Notice that the cans are within the driveway apron and not in the street where they could be hit by a plow truck. If your driveway is not wide enough to place the garbage cans on each side, DPW recommends that you shovel an area of the tree border to place your garbage cans on.
