[ARCHIVED] Thanks and Support to participants of George Floyd march from Columbus Police Department

silver badge

On Saturday June 6, 2020 a rally and march honoring George Floyd, who died in police custody in Minneapolis, as well as all those who have lost their lives to oppression, was held in downtown Columbus. It started at 11 a.m. at the Columbus Police Department and ended back there around 12 p.m. with 8 minutes and 46 seconds of kneeling, in honor of Mr. Floyd.

The organizer had contacted the department prior to the march and provided insight into what they were doing, where they were going, which included telling participants to stay on the sidewalk and follow all traffic laws.

This event involved an estimated 130 people and there were absolutely no issues.

The Columbus Police Department supports and thanks these participants for showing support for such an important cause in our country, and for doing so in a positive way that highlighted the strong character and compassion found in Columbus.
