Public Works Week is celebrated nationally during the 3rd week in May each year to honor all of the hard-working and dedicated employees who work in the Public Works profession. The City of Columbus has a great team of 7 full-time crew members, 2 custodial employees for all the city buildings, one Landscape Recycling Center attendant, one full-time administrative assistant, and the Director of Public Works.
Your City of Columbus Public Works team members are the people who keep the city clean and safe for residents. Their duties include snow and ice removal, road maintenance, and traffic control, maintain the city buildings and facilities, tree removal, trimming, and planting, brush pick up in the spring and summer, leaf pickup in the fall, maintain the deer at Fireman’s Park, manage waste water and storm water systems, maintain the Hillside Cemetery, playgrounds, parks, athletic fields, help with the CAAC, and are a big part of emergency management and first responders when help is needed.
You will find your Public Works team working well with other City departments, the school district, civic groups, local businesses, and City committees, boards, and commissions. Working well together means everyone benefits!
So as you see your City of Columbus Public Works team out there this week, make sure to give them a honk and a wave to let them know how much they are appreciated for all they do for the City of Columbus and its residents. Thank you!
