Are you interested in serving your community and contributing to the future of Columbus? If you answered yes to that question, we want you to know about an opportunity to serve on the City Council. With the recent resignation of a District 3 Alderperson, we are seeking a community-minded individual interested in serving the remainder of this term, which will end on April 19, 2021.
If you are interested in being considered for this position, are over 18 years of age and reside in District 3, please submit a letter of interest to the City Clerk’s office by Noon on Friday, May 29, 2020. The City Council will review the applicants on June 2, and candidates may be asked to attend the council meeting on June 16 to answer questions from the Council.
We suggest your letter contain a description of your qualifications, as well as a summary of why you would like to serve.
As an Alderperson you will be expected to attend the Council’s twice-monthly meetings, which generally range between two and four hours in length, and you will be assigned to various committees whose meetings are generally between one and three hours per month. Prior to Council meetings, you will need to spend some time reviewing the agenda and packet so you can be prepared with questions for staff or the Mayor.
All letters of interest should be mailed or delivered to City Clerk Pat Goebel at City Hall, 105 North Dickason Boulevard, Columbus, Wisconsin 53925. Deadline for submission is noon on Friday, May 29, 2020. Letters may also be emailed to pgoebel@columbuswi.us.
