[ARCHIVED] June 17 Update - 2016 Street Project

Here is your weekly update on the 2016 Street Project, for June 17th:

Charles Street: At this point plans have been to apply the surface or top layer of asphalt next week. Restoration work is not completed but will continue there.

Prairie & Church Streets: Paving these streets are planned for next week (both layers of asphalt). At the very least the graders will be out to have the sub smoothed out for the paving operation. The restoration of terraces and sidewalk areas will continue there through next week.

Mill Street: The water and sewer lateral work continues and will continue. With a roadway as long and with a bit softer base than under the other streets, the work has been a bit slower. The project managers and the contractor have been coordinating work with property owners wishing to replace lead water laterals. I have heard much better reports on garbage and recycling collection, so I thank the contractor and Advanced for hopefully coming up with a smoother system.

Birdsey Street: Nothing yet to report, but soon.

W. James: The Birdsey to Main Street block of W. James Street will be closed for the week of June 20th to allow crews to do water main work in that area. Local traffic is directed to navigate around the block and truck traffic will be detoured around the City.

As always, all schedules and work plans are dependent on the weather conditions.
