[ARCHIVED] Flooding Preparations

The City of Columbus is carefully monitoring the Crawfish River and creek levels for potential flooding this spring. The City has a supply of sand and sandbags that will be available for distribution for city residents needing to address rising water levels around their properties.

Sand and sandbags will be available at the City’s property at 1149 W. James Street (Old Countryside Ford location) during intermittent periods over the next several days, and can also be obtained via appointment by calling Columbus Emergency Management at (815) 222-6718.

Also city residents who need them can obtain filled sandbags on a first-come, first serve basis at the following locations this afternoon: Meister Park, the Landscape Recycling Center (in front of the gate), Avalon Park, the City parking lot at Water St & James St, and the Old Countryside Ford building.
