Here is your weekly update on the 2016 Street Project, for June 2nd:
Charles Street: What remains is restoration work to terraces and yards affected by the sidewalk installations. The week of June 13th , but possibly June 20th , is when the surface course of asphalt is expected. The finish line on this piece of the project is in sight.
Prairie & Church Streets: Concrete work is continuing, but recent rains have slowed down this process. Landscape restoration crews should be arriving to these areas within the next week as well. The binder (lower layer) and surface courses of asphalt will be applied the same week as Charles (June 13th or 20th)
Mill Street: The focus here is on the underground utilities, as the water main is being placed in areas from the Main Street intersection heading towards N. Lewis Street. The contractor has been told to keep access to properties on Mill Street open as much as possible during the underground work. I have heard some concerns on this and have immediately relayed them to our people in the field.
Birdsey Street: Keep patient there folks, work will eventually get to you there.
As always, all schedules and work plans are dependent on the weather conditions.
Assessments: The Columbus City Council will be considering the Preliminary Assessment Report at their next Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday, June 7th. That meeting will follow the City Council Regular meeting, which begins at 6:30 pm at City Hall.
