The fourth and final summer concert of the Summer Concert Series in Fireman’s Park, sponsored by Columbus Historic Landmarks and Preservation Commission, will be held on Thursday, August 23 from 6-8 P.M. Generous local businesses have donated financial support to bring in live musical entertainment several times this summer. Concerts are held in the green space near the pavilion—the same area where a bandstand stood almost 100 years ago. All are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, beverages, and a picnic supper while enjoying the evening’s live music. Fresh popcorn to support the iconic Hasey popcorn wagon will be available for purchase. This final concert will feature the Driftless Bluegrass Band, composed of musicians who live within 75 miles of Columbus and who love jamming together in the style of an old time string band. Often the group performs informally for street festivals. Members usually include banjo, acoustic guitar, mandolin, upright bass and percussion. They enjoy performing some standard bluegrass tunes and country music with all the members singing along in harmony.
The live music concerts are free for the community, and donations to continue the restoration and improvements to the 1916 Fireman’s Park Pavilion are encouraged. See you there for some great live music and camaraderie!
