[ARCHIVED] Police Department Warns of IRS Scam

Several residents have reported to us they have been receiving phone calls from the following number: (575)386-1399. The person claims to be with the IRS. They tell the person they have a warrant and need to give them their personal information or they will be arrested. THIS IS NOT HOW THE REAL IRS (Internal Revenue Service) OPERATES.

This is a scam. Do not give out your personal information to anyone who calls you and solicits this information. The real IRS will already have your personal information on file. If they need information from you, they would send you a letter first, requesting you contact them.
