[ARCHIVED] National Drug Take Back Event

On Saturday, October 28, 2017, our department will be participating in a nationwide event in which we are trying to make our community safer by reducing drug dependency and substance abuse.

During this event, the public can safely dispose of their unused/unwanted medicines. Specifically, we are encouraging our community members to get rid of those prescription drugs that fall into the opioid/pain reliever category. The current opioid epidemic in our country has shown that many people have abused these legal painkillers and have become addicted to other, more dangerous substances.

The event will be held at the Columbus Community Hospital, 1515 Park Ave. from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. There will be an officer at the main entrance drive up to assist with the collection efforts.

If you plan to dispose of any medications we ask that you adhere to the following:

  • Leave all medicines in their original container
  • Remove any labels with your personal information on them
  • DO NOT BRING SHARPS, NEEDLES, INJECTORS or SPRAYS

If you cannot make it to this event, we have a disposal box in the lobby of our building. This box is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
