By the end of the day Wednesday, September 6th, all of the new curb and gutter will be poured between Charles St. and Ludington St. The last of the curb work is on the bump outs which are designed to make pedestrians more visible to traffic.
Also happening Wednesday, the fencing downtown will be removed, and shortly after the remaining sidewalk will be coming out on the north side of the street. The hope is to have the new sidewalk poured by Friday, September 8th, though this may have to wait until Monday depending on the pace of construction.
The south side of the street will have to wait until the north is finished before its sidewalks will be removed.
Friday or Monday will also see a slight traffic switch at the Dix St./Industrial Dr./James St. intersection. Some traffic will now be directed to flow along the southbound lane of Dix St. This will be on top of the new asphalt.
The switch is designed to allow crews to work on the center of the intersection. This work is being done to make future traffic switches smoother.
