Curb and gutter have been prepped, as have sidewalks along the north side of James St between Charles St. and Dickason Blvd.
Curb and gutter will first go it on the west end of town. Once that work is completed, it will be laid, starting at Ludington, east up to Charles St. Once there, the work will turn around and head up the other side of the road from west to east back to Ludington.
This work began Tuesday, August 29th and will continue until complete.
The residential portion of James St. will be getting new sidewalks on the north side of the road Thursday, August 31st. The remaining sidewalks will go untouched until after Labor Day.
The traffic switch for Dix St. is imminent. You will soon be driving on new blacktop while crews move to work on the other side of the street.
Please also be aware that crews will be maintaining access to all businesses along the construction. If access is going to be restricted, the contractors should be notifying the affected businesses, and the restriction should be brief.
