A Big Thank You to the City of Columbus for helping our neighbors in need!
The City of Columbus received a call from the Cambria Village Hall on Friday, June 2 at 11 a.m., and were asked if we could help them with an urgent need for food. The village, during their recent tragedy, had depleted food stores and were needing to continue to provide for their citizens.
While Friday afternoon is not the most convenient time to get the word out and collect food for the weekend, the City of Columbus infrastructure and its citizenship used social media and word of mouth to spread the information about this event.
We had an outpouring of help from many individuals who stopped by the Park Pavilion on Saturday and donated money or food and others who assisted in getting the food to Cambria on Saturday afternoon.
We were able to provide enough food to fill three SUVs and a truck!
The Village of Cambria was extremely grateful and sends there heartfelt thanks.
Several of our local businesses also stepped up in a huge way. I would like to convey a special thank you to them.
Dollar General Managers, employees and customers collected items on Friday and Saturday.
Sentry Foods provided baked goods, canned goods, water and many other items.
Pick and Save took the initiative and took fresh fruit, water, and Gatorade directly to workers in Cambria on Saturday morning and then returned to our food drive with a huge supply of food. They plan to assist them again this week.
