Garbage/Recycling
The City of Columbus offers many programs dealing with both solid
waste, formally referred to as "Garbage" and Recycling for residential
units of 4 living units or less. Recycling availability for those in
living larger residential developments and commercial business alike
are welcome to utilize the city's Recycling Center located on River
Road .
The
city utilizes a vendor, Badger Disposal, for weekly trash and curbside
recycling pick-up for residential properties for less that 4 units.
Solid Waste can be placed on the tree boarder as early as dusk the
night before scheduled pickup and must be in approved containers.
Recyclables
will be picked up by separate vehicles on the same day as your regular
trash pick-up. Recyclables must be separated by material category
(listed below) and must be placed in individual bags (such as those
from the grocery store) and placed a few feet or so from your trash.

- Tin
- Plastic
- Glass

Large
items such as furniture and appliances or any item not covered under
the city's solid waste program can be picked up the special arrangement
by contacting Badger Disposal at the number listed above. These items
cannot be deposited in the tree boarder unless special disposal
arrangements have been made in advance and violators will be subject to
ticket and fine.

The City of Columbus in conjunction with Columbia County operates a Recycling
Center located at N3642 River Road . This facility will accept most recyclable
items free of charge and will property dispose of appliances for a fee.
The Recycling Center Hours are:
Monday 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Tuesday 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Thursday 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Recycling Brush
Brush, grass, leaves, and other garden material can be taken to the Recycling
Center on River Road and placed in the grass bin on: Mondays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.;
Tuesdays and Thursdays 2 p.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The Recycling

Tree Branches
Public Works continues to pick up brush (tree branches) on the second and last
Monday of every month. Place branches on the tree border by 7:00 a.m. on brush
days with all cut ends facing in one direction. The Public Works phone number
